For the second in our series of Close Up artist talks we will be joined by Margaret Mitchell, whose project In This Place was shown at Street Level in 2017 as part of AMBIT: Photographies from Scotland.

Ahead of the talk we have devised our second Photo Challenge, inspired by Margaret's series 'The Guisers'.

Margaret Mitchell was born in Stirling in 1968 and lives in Glasgow. Her projects range from those exploring communities and children’s worlds through to long-term documentation projects on environment, opportunity and social inequality. Her work has been exhibited widely including at Street Level Photoworks, Glasgow; the National Portrait Gallery, London; Festival Circulation(s), Paris; Somerset House, London; FORMAT International Photography Festival, Derby and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh. She has received a number of accolades including those from Sony World Photography Awards, Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards, and the Royal Photographic Society.

Alongside, personal projects she also works editorially with work published in the Guardian, Telegraph Magazine, CNN and Shelter Scotland. Her work is held in the permanent collection of the National Galleries of Scotland.
