We are delighted to invite you to our upcoming programme of talks, to accompany both of our current exhibitions, ‘Glaswegians’ and ‘The Scene from Within’
Saturday 23rd August – Alistair McCallum and Jane Carroll on the exhibition ‘Glaswegians’, with a focus on the poster and banner works produced at Cranhill Arts, supporting various civic campaigns, protests, and events in the later eighties and early nineties.
Saturday 30th August at 2pm– Mandy Edwards and Keith Ingham. Mandy will talk about on her portrait projects linking 2010 and 2024 of traders in the East End of Glasgow. Keith will provide some insights into his images on display which were part of an important social documentary record of the Calton area of Glasgow in 1976.
Saturday 6th September at 2pm – Gerry D'Ambrosio. Find out more about the last days of 'The Jungle' pub, Gerry's fascinating and gritty view of a place long gone, and its characters, at the turn of the 1970s. With Gerry's daughter, Dorothy Rourke, and his younger cousin Gerard Boni.
Saturday 27th September at 2pm – Alistair McCallum and Jane Carroll. On the penultimate weekend of the exhibition, Alistair and Jane will be joined by photographers involved in Cranhill Arts’ ‘Glaswegians’ project, the largest community photography project to emerge within a housing scheme, as well as being the largest survey of its kind to date.
