The International Times
at Skratch, 53 King St opposite Trongate 103

Ran from 12th September - 7th November

Ran in conjunction with the John 'Hoppy' Hopkins exhibition - 'Taking Liberties'.

The International Times was a radical underground newspaper and Europes first ‘alternative’ publication. The voice of a generation, it was co-founded by John ‘Hoppy’ Hopkins in 1966, and was first edited by Glaswegian poet and playwright Tom McGrath (1940 – 2009). As part of the show at Street Level, Skratch will host a series of their alluring covers from the more graphic phase of the magazine’s production in 67-69.

Full copies of these magazine were available for browsing at Street Level, and included issues marking key cultural moments, such as Hoppy’s arrest in 1967, the 14 Hour Technicolour Dream Issue, Paris 68, Hornsey 69, the first and the last issue edited by McGrath.

This coincided with the recent launch of the International Times Archive who collaborated with Street Level in the presentation of the IT covers.
A limited edition postcard set of IT covers was available for the duration of the show.
