Writer Des Dillon was the featured performer at Reading the Waves. An internationally acclaimed Scottish writer, here is a cross section of his output: Me and Ma Gal: Argyll Publishing, 1995, The Big Empty: A Collection of Short Stories: Argyll Publishing, 1997, Duck: Argyll Publishing, 1998, Itchycooblue: Headline, 1999, Six Black Candles: Headline, 2002, Picking Brambles: Luath Press, 2003, Singin I'm No a Billy He's a Tim: Luath Press, 2005. Born in Coatbridge, Des is a poet, short story writer, novelist, dramatist, broadcaster, screen writer, scriptwriter for TV, stage and radio. He was Writer-in-Residence at Castlemilk 1998-2000. Anthologised internationally, he has been published in the USA, India, Russia, Sweden, in Catalan, French and Spanish.

His novel Me and Ma Gal was included on the list of The 100 Greatest Ever Scottish Books.

Reading the Waves was an evening of word, wine and music; it brought together the best of Scottish writing and gave the writing 'freshers' of the Professional Writing class at GCNS a chance to perform their work. Come along,
