A Talk by Myriam Thyes

Presented Wednesday 17th September, Goethe Institut, Glasgow

Myriam Thyes studied painting and video-art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf, Germany (one of her teachers was Nan Hoover). Since 1999, her work has focused on video-art, animation and digital imagery and between 2000-2004, she has realised media art projects on public screens as a member of the artists group [Strictly Public].

In 2005, the evolving flash animation series FLAG METAMORPHOSES received funding from the Swiss Federal Office of Culture. FLAG METAMORPHOSES is a collaborative art project - a continuously growing animation series with many authors: the flags of every nation in the world transform into each other through flash animation. Myriam, who exhibited her video installation ‘Multiple Madonna’ at Street Level last spring (as part of the TIMELOOP season of German video-art), is currently undertaking the WASPS Glasgow / Düsseldorf exchange.

The event was presented in association with Goethe Institut and WASPS
