Over the previous four years the London Photographic Awards had achieved its initial ambition and developed into a prestigious international photographic competition attracting photographers from the USA, Japan, Europe, Australasia and the Indian subcontinent.
Through its unique brief - a piece of poetry - it has produced creative, high quality and recognised bodies of work. This was also the fourth year that Street Level had hosted the exhibition. The exhibition included works by a total of twenty fine art, commercial and student photographers from ten countries whose work had been selected around the poem \Whim' by Imtiaz Dharker. The overall winner was Eva-Maria Riegler, an Austrian Photographer who lives in London, whose work comprised of four images from her project 'Coming to my Senses' a photographic series based around 'memories'.
The exhibition was a rich and varied selection of works, illustrating the breadth and range of photographic media that was being produced within this worldwide setting.
