A six monitor installation in a blacked out space in which the monitors, stacked in a pyramid shape, are reflected in a pool of water. It is a quiet, meditative piece in which the viewer sees images slowly transforming, with a landscape interacting with a male, female and child figures. Sporadic sounds of the child crying and water rushing evoke a haunting atmosphere. The artist aimed to create a sense of place and of time, with the anticipating audience response becoming aware of the inevitability of transformation through the act of procreation: the cycle of life, death and rebirth.

In the 1980s Zoe Redman exhibited her video art, installations and performances widely in festivals and at such venues as the ICA, Tate Gallery and the Museum of Moving Image. Her work was concerned with finding a creative voice as a young feminist artist and mother. She was involved with London Video Arts and was a founder of the London Women’s Media Resource project.

Today she concentrates on painting, making installations and video and has evolved a creative poetic language to bring the two practices of painting and video into cohesion. Her recent work ‘108 Doors’ was made in collaboration with Mark Lockett.
