From the 'Digging for Diamonds' series
Alicia Bruce was artist in residence at the Woodend Barn allotments in Banchory, Aberdeenshire from January to September 2014 making photographic portraits of people and place in this unique rural setting. She tells the story of those who work on the plots and why they are drawn to work the land. Over the year, Alice met plot holders from all walks of life including retirees, artists, teachers, shop assistants, golfers and children who are learning from an early age where their food comes from.
This body of work was shown at the Wooden Barn Gallery and at Scotland House in Brussels, Belgium.
