Black and White Beginners Weekend
£80 / £55 concessions
Introducing the whole process of Black & White photography in one
weekend -how to use all the manual functions of a 35mm SLR camera, process
your own film, print up contacts and make enlargements in the darkroom.

your camera and to use a darkroom without assistance. Please bring
along your own 35mm camera.
Pinhole Weekend
£80 / £55 concessions
Discover the magic of cameraless photography! In this weekend course participants
will make their own pinhole cameras from boxes and old coffee tins, take
photographs and develop them in the darkroom. Pinhole photography creates
distorted images and constantly surprises. It is ideal for the absolute
beginner or those with some experience, interested in the creative effects
in photography. All materials provided.
Liquid Light Weekend
£80 / £55 concessions
A practical and experimental introductory for people with experience of
printing and developing in a darkroom environment. Liquid Light is a photographic
emulsion that can be hand-applied to a variety of materials. This course
looks at the exciting possibilities that liquid light brings to conventional
printing. Participants will learn to print photographic images on to surfaces
including paper, fabric and wood, using the liquid emulsions. Following
some demonstrations participants will first prepare and coat various surfaces,
then expose them to negatives, to make two- or three-dimensional prints.
The material is then exposed with an enlarger and developed in standard
black and white chemistry. This workshop offers more advanced participants
new possibilities for photographic exploration.
Salt Printing and Cyanotype Weekend
£80 / £55 concessions
An introductory workshop exploring two early photographic processes, suitable
for both the experienced and the beginner in photography. Textured
paper or fabric can be used as a base for the 2 emulsions - salt prints
are distinctive brown tones and cyanotypes a rich blue. The prepared material
is then exposed under sunlight, or an artificial UV light source in a
contact
printing process.
